Embrace: Self-Love

This month, our guide word is "embrace".

Start with yourself. Why have you resisted fully accepting yourself?

For many of us, it’s our past. We sacrifice self-love as a form of penance or atonement for whatever real or imagined infractions we committed in the past.

Perhaps we’ve been told we’re unacceptable, unlovable, and we’ve come to believe it.

I’m here to tell you that you are deeply lovable.

Yes, you.

You with your imperfect personality and imperfect family and imperfect body. You with your shame. You with all the things you’re scared to show up and share.

Embrace yourself fully.

Practice opening up to the idea that you are lovable in your totality.

Can you believe it?

Can you believe that you—with everything you’ve done and been through—are totally worthy of being fully embraced with love?

As Max Ehrmann once wrote so beautifully, “You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.”

You are wanted. You are loved.

Embrace yourself, and your life. Then get ready to be embraced back!

In joy,
Maya Hampton
